Builds 22–27 · Release roundup

Cold Calls. Hard Resets. Motion Carried.

Studio renders of HR Cold Shoulder, IT Hard Reset and the Boardroom Carbine, Motion Carried.

HR has a new way to put you on ice. IT would like you to try a hard reset. The board has carried a motion, and it holds twenty rounds.

Beta 27 is live for Windows, Linux and macOS. This roundup covers Builds 22–27, picking up where our Builds 18–21 post left off: three new crate weapons, frost and electricity, better spectating, rooftop changes, repair rewards, corrected highscores and a more audible casino.

HR Cold Shoulder: freeze, then shatter

Hold the trigger to spray foam over a short, four-metre range. It deals no direct damage. Instead, zombies turn progressively icy blue as frost slows their movement and animations together. Keep the foam on them until they freeze completely, then finish them with one bullet or melee hit to shatter them into ice.

You get sixteen cartridges including the loaded one, with 100 foam in each. Continuous spraying drains 20 foam per second: five seconds per full cartridge. Reloading takes 2.3 seconds and replaces the cartridge, discarding any foam left in it.

The cold wears off. Two seconds after the last foam hit, zombies gradually thaw, their colour fades and their movement and animation speed recover. Once a fully frozen target starts thawing, the one-hit shatter opportunity is gone. Keep spraying to hold it open, or have a teammate take the finishing shot.

The foam now has finer droplets, mist and contact splashes. This release also fixes missing frost visuals on affected zombies and the firing effect failing after switching away from Cold Shoulder and back. Frost remains visible through other zombie effects and multiplayer updates, and animation speed follows the actual slowdown.

IT Hard Reset: pass it down the line

Blue electricity sits inside the front cartridge. Each semi-auto shot sends a charge into a zombie, covers it in blue static and can jump through up to seven zombies in total. Each jump deals 15% less damage than the last. The next target must be within four metres of the previous one, with no wall blocking the jump.

The first hit deals 38.5 base damage, reduced by 30% from its initial tuning. You have fifteen rounds loaded and 105 in reserve, for 120 total, with a 2.2-second reload. Primary shots reach twenty metres. A line of colleagues is an opportunity; the seventh still receives much less of the bad news than the first.

Motion Carried: the Boardroom Carbine

Executive-black bodywork, brass trim, green accents and formal meeting-room branding. Motion Carried is semi-auto only, with 34 base damage, low recoil and full power to twenty-four metres before falloff, out to forty metres. It carries twenty rounds loaded and 160 in reserve, and reloads in 1.5 seconds.

Fast handling brings it up in 0.30 seconds and into aim in 0.12 seconds. Its iron sights line up through the rear aperture onto the front post, including after swapping weapons. One press, one shot. The meeting can proceed at your pace.

Three rare finds in LOST & FOUND

Cold Shoulder and Hard Reset now share the Synergy Beam's rarity: each has half the crate weight of an ordinary weapon. Motion Carried has ordinary weight. Before weapons you already hold are excluded, that means 5% for each rare weapon, 10% for each ordinary weapon and 5% for the troll. Your current loadout changes those remaining odds. A pull still costs 950 points.

The arsenal now includes all three models to inspect, and the weapon database has their stats. Developer builds also gain a weapon picker that spawns a fully loaded pickup nearby; multiplayer spawning is host-only. That menu is for development builds and is not available in the public beta.

Since Build 21: staying with your team

Build 22 added an orbiting spectator camera after multiplayer death. Rotate with the mouse or look stick, switch living teammates with Q/E or LB/RB, and zoom with the mouse wheel or D-pad up/down. Scenery keeps the camera from passing through walls, and it changes target when the watched player dies or leaves. Bindings and your usual sensitivity settings carry across.

Stair crowds also keep the lane nearest their approach instead of crossing each other to swap sides at the entrance. Clearance checks stop zombies starting a crossing through a nearby wall. Build 23 addressed a loading hang and improved cleanup between runs; a failed load now offers a way back to the menu.

The roof, the repair bill and your score

Build 24 added rooftop air handlers, duct banks and maintenance cabinets to break up long sightlines. New floodlights illuminate the service routes and respond to the same electrical faults and repairs as the rest of the compound.

Repairing a fuse box now pays the repairing survivor 500 gold. Protection belongs to that box: fixing the final broken cabinet no longer resets every other box's fault timer or grants shared protection. Each individual repair still gives its own protected period before wear resumes.

Highscores now count the round you reached. Die during round eighteen and it is a round-eighteen run. Earlier game scores were migrated to the same basis. The run-over screen highlights your best position, or your team's position for its squad size, with nearby entries even when the latest run did not beat it. Gold earned and then shorter run time break ties.

You can hear the casino working

Build 25 gave roulette its rolling, slowing, rattling ball and landing click. Blackjack has card deals, hits, reveals and button sounds. Both tables have distinct win, loss and push cues, with positional sound controlled by master volume.

Build 26 fixed the crane pushing passengers towards the exit while travelling. Its motor now accompanies the lift and crossing, fading during stops. The zombie-powered wheel has axle creaks, tread impacts, shuffling and a low groan. Employee of the Eternity has finally been given a microphone.

Download Beta 27

The Windows, Linux and macOS downloads are public, so you can download without signing in. Playing the beta still needs a free access key: sign up for instant access, with 48 hours starting when you first activate it. Extensions can be requested from your account. Windows downloads are signed and timestamped.

Multiplayer now requires Build 27 or later. Update the whole squad before joining so the new weapons, frost and shatter effects work together. Tell us how the new crate balance feels on your next shift.
